Burma Cracking Down On Foreign Behavior

Compiled From Wire Services

Burma’s military rulers have stepped up their fight against what they consider “decadent alien culture.”

They are offering rewards to those who report on people teaching Western dance, organizing rowdy birthday parties or going wild in singalong bars.

Some Burmese who are ignoring the government’s warnings against such behavior face severe action, the official newspaper, New Light of Myanmar, said Saturday.

It did not say what penalties they face.
