Philippine Relations With Singapore Tense

Compiled From Wire Services

Singapore advised its citizens Monday to stay away from the Philippines after reports of public anger over the execution of a Filipino maid here.

There have been threats against Singaporeans and their property in the Philippines since Flor Contemplacion was hanged last Friday for a double murder, the Foreign Ministry said.

On Sunday, the government said it was indefinitely postponing a visit by Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong to Manila, scheduled originally for next month. It said the decision was made jointly with the Philippine government.
