U.S.-Japan Auto Talks May Resume

From Staff And Wire Reports

There is a chance that U.S. and Japanese negotiators this week will resume talks to open Japan’s automobile markets, a Japanese Embassy aide said Monday.

“The two sides are discussing it,” said the aide. “There is a possibility that the talks could resume this week.”

U.S. Trade Representative Mickey Kantor told Japanese Ambassador Takakazu Kuriyama last Thursday that the United States is ready to resume automobile talks this week after a break of almost two months.
