Yearbook Wins National Honors

Who Cares?

Rogers High School’s Yearbook Staff

About what?

National prestige.

Did they get some?

They sure did. Rogers’ yearbook, The Treasure Chest, was presented a Showcase Award by yearbook publishing company Herff Jones. The “student life” section, a 16-page fullcolor section of the 1994 yearbook, will be featured in the Herff Jones “Best of the Best” book. Only 10 schools were chosen out of 3,000.

How’d they do it?

“Good photography, excellent design,” says current editor Sarah Houk, a senior. “We put that all together and it worked out real nice.”

Is it that easy?

“Looking back on the year and all our deadlines, there were times at 11 at night we thought, ‘We’ll never make it!”’ Houk says. “But we know it pays off in the end. It’s really worth all the time and effort. This year’s is going to be as great as last year’s.”
