George Mueller Spokane
George August Mueller of Spokane turns 100 years old today. Born March 24, 1895, in Graceville, Minn., he has been a resident of Eastern Washington for 95 years, first living in Rosalia, Wash., and then the past 71 years in Spokane.
He married Edna Margaret Mueller in 1925. She died in 1982.
Mueller served as a postal clerk for 45 years at the parcel post window at the main office on Trent Avenue. He also worked as a general delivery clerk.
He is a World War I veteran and a poet.
The Muellers raised a set of twins, Phyllis Mae Mueller and Gerald August Mueller, both of Spokane. Mueller also has four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
When asked to what he attributes his longevity, he replied, “A sense of humor, no drinking or smoking, and living sensibly.”
