Police Honor 150 Volunteers
The Spokane Police Department honored its corps of 150 civilian volunteers Thursday at an awards ceremony in City Hall.
In 1994, the uniformed and trained volunteers donated more than 63,700 hours of service - the equivalent of 30 regular full-time officers.
The volunteers include Explorer Scouts who help with crowd and traffic control at events. Co-op students, reserve police officers and senior volunteers also were honored.
Members of the Police Department, the mayor’s office and the City Council attended the third-annual ceremony in the Chase Gallery.
