Nancy Puts Best Foot Or Something Forward

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Loose talk

Actor Liam Neeson, denying his reputation as a ladies’ man, describes one as “somebody who hangs out in lounge bars and says, ‘Hi, baby. Have you seen ‘Schindler’s List’?”

Her boots may be made for walkin’, but here’s just what she’ll do: Nancy’s gonna strip and show her body in plain view.

That’s Nancy, as in Nancy Sinatra, the 54-year-old daughter of Frank Sinatra and singer of such pop hits as “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.” And in celebration of her new album, she’s going to appear nude in a Playboy layout.

Now, most 50-something celebs would balk at baring themselves in a national magazine, and Sinatra is no different. But she got over it. She even forgave the model, half her age, who showed up for a similar photo session.

“I didn’t hate her. I didn’t feel jealous,” she said. “Besides, we bring different things to the pictures. She brings beautiful breasts, and I bring OK breasts and lots of personality.”

What’s her real age? Don’t speak! Don’t speak!

Dianne Wiest turns 47 today.

Back then they stuffed themselves with Hamburger Helper

The quote: “The trailer on the episode is almost identical to the one she and I lived in when we got married.” The speaker: Bill Pentland. The occasion: Pentland, first ex-husband to sitcom star Roseanne, just played a bit part on “Roseanne.” He was commenting on the trailer his character lives in on the episode.

As the character says, ‘Stupid is as stupid does’

The quote: “I think we have to be a bit careful; otherwise the whole thing gets to be rather a mess.” The speaker: Britain’s Prince Charles. The occasion: No, he wasn’t speaking of marriage. Instead, he was referring to corruptions of the English language.

During interviews, she always gives a few curt replies

Courtney Love, the rocker-who’s-earned-the-most-publicity-withoutever-recording-a-hit-song, will be featured on the June cover of Vanity Fair magazine.

For some professionals, even a thank you is unnecessary

Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder loves danger. Maybe that’s why he was swimming in the surf off Auckland, N.Z., on Saturday. Whatever, he was carried 250 feet offshore and had to be rescued by members of the Karekare Surf Club. When all he offered in return was a quick, “Thank you,” lifeguard Eric Davis said, “We are volunteers operating on a shoestring budget and a donation would have helped us along.”

Forsooth, Maury, thou shouldst get thyself to a funnery

Maury Povich, whose own modicum of talent has been put on perfect display in the talk-show format, told TV Guide that, in a classical sense, criticizing his peers is pointless. “Shakespeare used all the themes tabloid TV touches,” he said. “Shakespeare might have been thought of as the Ricki Lake of his era.”
