Yacht Remains Eligible

Dennis Conner and onetime rival Young America are officially an America’s Cup couple.

Team New Zealand, which would like to see Conner saddled with his slower sloop Stars & Stripes, asked the America’s Cup Trustees’ Committee to keep the veteran skipper from using Young America in the America’s Cup finals.

But the three-member Trustees’ Committee unanimously reaffirmed its decision of March 30 that the San Diego Yacht Club could select its defending yacht from those that participated in the defender finals.
