Human Remains Found In Cabin

From Staff And Wire Reports

Deputies sifting through the ashes of a Crawfish Lake cabin found human remains and investigators were trying to determine if foul play was involved, Okanogan County Sheriff Jim Weed said today.

Investigators had no leads on the cause of the fire or identity of the victim. The body was so badly burned that it was difficult to tell the sex, age, or size, the sheriff said.

Chelan County Coroner Dr. Jerry Rappe scheduled an autopsy.

The owner of the cabin 18 miles northeast of Omak arrived Wednesday night to find it burned to the ground and still smoldering. Deputies found the body while sifting through the ashes Thursday.
