Pharmacist Has License Revoked He Admitted Distributing Narcotics, Painkillers Illegally

Associated Press

A pharmacist who admitted distributing methadone and other drugs illegally has lost his license for at least five years and his business remains closed.

Those were terms of an agreement reached last month between the pharmacist and the state Board of Pharmacy.

Brian Longstreth, 42, also faces trial May 30 in Whatcom County Superior Court on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance.

His business, McLain Drug Store, has been closed since December.

In documents he signed as part of the agreement, Longstreth admitted illegally distributing narcotics, painkillers and methadone without valid prescriptions to two patients last year.

He may resume practicing only after the revocation period has expired and he has paid a $5,000 fine, passed an examination and undergone psychological evaluation and drug screening.

If he moves from Washington, the time he spends out of state won’t count toward the revocation period.
