Three Spokane Students Serve As Legislative Aides

Three students in Spokane were selected to serve as legislative pages. Their duties include delivering bills and messages to Senate offices, working on the Senate floor, and providing general assistance to legislative staff.

Michael Schreiner, son of Jane and John Schreiner, Spokane. Schreiner is a student at Cataldo Catholic School.

Aaron Routt, son of Sandy and D.A. Routt, Spokane. Routt is a student at Ferris High School.

Alisha Powers, daughter of Laurey and Geoffery Powers, Spokane. Powers is a student at Gonzaga Preparatory High School.

The Spokane-Lubeck Sister City Association has selected three student ambassadors to go to Lubeck, Germany. Chyrran Slama and Christopher Skidmore, both of East Valley High School, will spend eight weeks in Lubeck. Daniel Mullen, Lewis and Clark High School, will spend the 1995-1996 school year in Lubeck.

The Inland Empire Council of Camp Fire Boys and Girls announced the 1995 council high sellers for the recently completed annual candy sale. High seller was Melissa Cocks, daughter of John and Jeannie Cocks, selling 784 packages of candy. Cocks is a 10th grader and is home-schooled. Other high sellers include: Angela Smith, grade 9, Northwood Junior High, 532 packages; Stephanie Trudeau, grade 2, Woodridge Elementary, 511 packages; Eric Gonser grade 3, Franklin Elementary, 510 packages; and Jessica Froelich, grade 8, Chase Middle School, 407 packages.

Amanda Ballard, a fourth-grade student at Priest River Elementary, won a scholarship from Young Astronauts of America. She will attend a week-long “Space Camp.” The camp will be held in Hunstville, Ala., in May. Amanda also received $300 toward transportation costs.
