Eagles Seniors Reach Perfection
West Valley swept the 400 meters and long jump Thursday, and the Eagles’ dominant relay teams had three wins as a group of seven senior girls finished their Frontier League careers with the fourth straight league title and a 20-0 record.
With Cindy Simpson leading the 400 sweep (1 minute, 4.5 seconds) and Erin Craig topping the long jump (16 feet, 7 inches), the Eagles cruised to a 96-45 win at Cheney.
Craig was a triple winner, adding the 100 and 300 hurdles (17.5, 53.5).
WV’s Kaci Stansbury took the shot put (41-3) and the discus (130-3). The Eagles’ Tera Inman also won twice, taking the triple jump (34-6 1/4) and the 200 (27.8).
The FL’s District 7/Millwood Albertson’s meet is next week in Cheney, with time trials on Tuesday and finals on Friday.
At West Valley, Star Olson shattered her league records in the triple (35-9 1/4) and long jumps (17-1 1/4) to lead East Valley past Pullman 125-16.
Crystal Nicholson was a triple winner for the Knights, taking the 200 (28.4) and both hurdles (16.8, 49.5).
At Colville, Jennifer Herbert won the 100 (12.9) and both hurdles (16.6, 48.2) as Clarkston defeated the Indians 90-46.
The Bantams’ Jennifer Rea won the 800 (2:35.4), 1,600 (5:44.3) and 3,200 (12:02.0).
Frontier boys
Chris Henderson won the 1,600 (4:36.6) and 3,200 (10:03.0) as league champion EV captured 13 of 17 events to beat Pullman 108-37.
Pullman’s Bill Hinz recorded a league-best throw of 146-1 in the discus.
Cheney’s Chad Randall swept the 100 (11.0), 200 (23.6) and 400 (51.4) but WV beat the Blackhawks 81-63.
Clarkston’s Joe Wald broke his league mark in the shot put (50-4) and tied the top discus throw (141-4) to help lift the Bantams over Colville 86-49. Mike Greenland set a Colville record in the 200 (22.9).
