Casey Olson’s bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning highlighted a sixrun rally as Gonzaga defeated Washington 6-2 in a Pacific-10 Conference North Division game Friday at GU’s Pecarovich Field.

Washington fell to 15-13 Pac-10 North, 23-29 overall while GU moved to 14-14, 28-24. GU starter Darin Blood won to improve to 13-3. He struck out 10 to increase his Pac10 North-leading strikeout total to 145.

At Tacoma, Whitworth eliminated Pacific Lutheran from postseason play when the Pirates (9-7 NCIC, 17-16-1) beat the Lutes (9-7, 23-12) in the second game of a doubleheader.

If the Pirates beat the Lutes today, Whitworth may have to make up a rainout against Lewis & Clark to determine whether it has a chance at one of two playoff berths awarded to the NCIC.
