NEW FACES:

Darin L. Moore has joined Taylor Engineering Inc. as a design engineer. Moore, who earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Washington State University, worked for Taylor Engineering during the last six summers.

Joseph Nappi Jr. of Hemovich & Nappi has merged with Huppin Ewing Anderson & Paul P.S. A former Washington State Bar Association governor, Nappi practiced for many years with the late Michael J. Hemovich. Nappi’s current law practice includes civil litigation, business, probate and insurance.

Sharon E. Welch has joined American Electronic Sign as a customer service representative in the commercial market. A graduate of Gettysburg College, she previously was a sales representative for Nordstrom.

Stan Cochran has joined Quality Steel Buildings Inc. as general manager. Cochran, who was with Spokane Structures Inc. for the past nine years, will oversee all operations at Quality Steel Buildings.

DDI Architecture and Planning’s Spokane office has hired Rebeca Julien as designer and office manager. Formally with the Trade Center Inc., Julien holds degrees in architecture and interior design and has more than 18 years of experience in the Spokane construction industry.

Ed Walther and Dave Kerns have joined Century-21, Premier Service, as associate brokers. Both Walther and Kerns recently passed the Washington real estate broker examination after completing 90 hours of advanced training in finance, real estate law and brokerage management.

Century-21 Premier Service has added the following people as sales associates:

Gary Finn, Judy Jessip, Olana Steele, Patty Thomas and Lauri Williams.

Kiemle & Hagood Co. has added two new associates to its Brokerage Services Department:

Steve T. Gill, associate broker, specializes in apartment and investment transactions, as well as general commercial activity. He has been involved in commercial real estate for 16 years with an emphasis on the apartment sales market.

Gary A. Doerschlag, sales associate, specializes in industrial properties. He has 13 years of experience in business administration and management.

The Heart Institute of Spokane has named Dr. Katherine R. Tuttle director of research. Tuttle currently has a local medical practice specializing in kidney disease, hypertension and metabolism. She also holds the position of clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington. She will transition from private practice to assume full-time research leadership at The Heart Institute of Spokane.

MOVING UP:

Ken Olson of the Spokane Area Economic Development Council has been promoted to vice president. Olson has been with the EDC since 1984.

Susan Shardlow has been promoted to regional operations/administration manager for Trinity Universal Insurance Co.’s Northwest Regional Office in Spokane. She joined Trinity last October from Seafirst Bankcard Services, where she was a collections officer.

Barb Byrum has been promoted to a personal lines operations supervisor for Trinity Universal Insurance Co.’s Northwest Regional Office in Spokane. She joined Trinity in 1993 and earlier was a desktop publishing operator for Farm Credit Bank.

Ken Chadderdon has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing at Carpet Center, a retail floorcovering business. He has been with Carpet Center for 18 years and previously managed the company’s East Sprague store.

Weight Watchers has named Julie Clare as territory manager for Eastern Washington and North Idaho. She was previously a Weight Watchers trainer and leader.

EXPANDING:

Johnson Matthey Korea a subsidiary of Johnson Matthey’s Spokane-based Electronics Division has opened a $7 million sputtering target manufacturing line in Eumsong, South Korea. JM Korea is expected to begin using the new facility to fill customers orders. Annual production capacity will be approximately 6,000 targets.

MOVING:

Ferrellgas has moved to a new full service location at 6207 E. Broadway.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Gregg Held of Veradale has completed the requirements established by the Accreditation Council of Accountancy and Taxation to use the service mark Accredited Tax Preparer. Held is the owner of Greentree Accounting, which specializes in accounting and tax services for small businesses and individuals.

Kelan Fischer and Y.S. Lai of the Spokane Maple Street office of Windermere Real Estate have earned Washington state broker’s licenses. To qualify, an associate must complete 90 hours of advanced real estate education and training over a two-year period.

Leann Purtill and Stacy Fleming, owners of Airway Sand and Gravel, received their Women’s Business Enterprise certification from the state of Washington. They specialize in crushed rock and sand.

KUDOS:

GTE Telephone Operations has awarded Telect its Quality Award of Excellence for achieving superior product and service quality standards. Telect also was named Best in Class in the transmission products category.

Knoles Logging of Priest River, Idaho, has been selected for Plum Creek Timber Co.’s 1994 Environmental Logger of the Year Award. The logger must adhere to all Forest Practice Act regulations, document efforts at environmental education, have a good safety record, good communication with contract administrators and produce high-quality logs.

Zak Designs has received a Design of the Year award in the home furnishings product category from Disney. The award was presented for Zak’s Designs’ melamine and acrylic dinnerware and drinkware featuring the Mickey Unlimited Brand. The award is presented to select licensees who bring the magic of Disney characters to the world through products.
