Police Recover Body Near Upriver Dam

From Staff And Wire Reports

A body was found in the Spokane River about 8:30 a.m. Sunday near a generator grate at Upriver Dam.

A witness spotted the body, and Spokane police recovered it.

Police have no information on the identity of the victim or the circumstances of the death.

The spot is downstream from where a man was swept away in the current a month ago.

On April 15, a man jumped into the Spokane River and was carried away halfway across the river. Search and rescue workers and divers unsuccessfully looked for the body.

That man was described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, about 6 feet tall with a stocky build.
