From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane Area Business Information Center, a clearinghouse for helping entrepreneurs and small business people get started, will open downtown May 31.

After an afternoon ribbon-cutting ceremony with U.S. Rep. George Nethercutt, the BIC will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce building, 1020 W. Riverside. The telephone number is 353-2800.

BIC services are free to the public. Volunteers from the U.S. Small Business Administration, Service Corps of Retired Executives and the chamber will staff the office.

This will be the third BIC to open in the Pacific Northwest, with others located in Seattle and Boise.
