Kmart To Revive ‘Blue Light Special’

Kmart Corp. chairman Donald Perkins, presiding over his first annual meeting, tried to reassure shareholders and employees that recent steps taken by the nation’s No. 3 retailer will turn the company around.

Perkins also suggested Tuesday that a return to Kmart’s roots - a revival of the famed “blue light special” - may be one way to put more green into the struggling discounter’s cash registers.

Company spokeswoman Mary Lorencz said Kmart has found many of its customers miss the blue light special.
