U-High Principal Selected
North Central High School’s assistant principal was chosen Monday to head up University High School in the Spokane Valley.
Erik H. Ohlund, 46, will replace Dennis Hill as University principal on Aug. 14. Ohlund will earn about $68,000 a year.
Ohlund has been assistant principal at North Central since 1988. Hill has been U-High’s principal since 1987, and has been reassigned as assistant principal at Central Valley High School.
Prior to his position at North Central, Ohlund spent 16 years in the Coeur d’Alene School District - 13 years as a teacher and coach at his alma mater, Coeur d’Alene High School. In 1985, he became athletic director.
Ohlund has a master’s degree in teaching from Whitworth College and a bachelor’s degree in education and American government from Idaho State University.
