Blood Named To All-America 3rd Team

Gonzaga University junior righthander Darin Blood, named the Pacific-10 North player of the year earlier this month, was selected Thursday for the Mizuno NCAA Division I All-America third team by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Blood becomes the first Bulldog baseball All-America pick since 1977, when Larry Patterson was accorded first team designated hitter honors by Collegiate Baseball.

A 1992 graduate of Spokane’s Central Valley High, Blood posted a 13-3 record and 2.57 ERA this year for the Bulldogs, becoming the first Gonzaga player honored as the Pac-10 North’s top player.
