Shoshone Jailers Tighten Security
Jailers boosted security at the Shoshone County Jail in Wallace over the weekend, after getting word that someone might be trying to help a prisoner escape.
Shoshone County sheriff’s Lt. Spike Angle said officials locked the front doors Saturday morning. Visitors had to present identification or talk to officers before being allowed inside, Angle said.
“It’s business as usual. The only thing is front-office security is a little stronger,” he said.
The restrictions, ordered by Shoshone County Sheriff Dan Schierman, will be in force until at least today, the lieutenant said.
He declined to specify which prisoner the alleged escape plan involved.
The 64-bed Shoshone County Jail, adjacent to the sheriff’s office in downtown Wallace, was built in the early 1970s.
