Creation, Evolution Series Topic

The Rev. Garell Forehand, author and preacher, is leading a nine-week series at the Southside Church of Christ, 1225 E. Newark, titled, “Creation vs. Evolution.”

The fourth session is today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Over the course of the nine weeks, Forehand is discussing such topics as human origin, the existence of the dinosaurs, UFOs, human evolution from apes, and the “Gap Theory.”

The series continues each Saturday through Dec. 16, with the exception of Nov. 25.

‘Alternative Christmas Sale’

First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, presents its seventh annual “Jubilee Alternative Christmas Sale” Thursday through next Saturday.

This bazaar specializes in selling unusual Christmas gifts from around the world. All profits raised during the three-day event are given directly to the vendors, who are raising money for the poor both in Spokane and abroad.

This year, people who attend the bazaar are encouraged to donate blankets to the homeless of Spokane.

On Friday, there will be a special Ethiopian dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5.50 for adults, and $4 for children 12 and under. All proceeds will benefit the homeless.

Jubilee Alternative Christmas Sale will be open 5-8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Old English Christmas Fair

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th, holds its annual Ye Olde English Christmas Faire in Jewett House from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

A potpourri of handmade goods, arts and crafts, baked foods and other gift items will be on sale.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Holiday bazaar

The Cheney United Church of Christ will host its annual holiday bazaar and luncheon from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

The bazaar’s featured items are baked goods, jams and jellies, hand crafts, fruits and vegetables.

The luncheon, served between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., will include a host of homemade foods, such as soups and breads. Sweet rolls and coffee will be available until 10:30 a.m.
