Kinney Meet A Consolation Prize For Runner
Central Valley High School’s Brandon Larson didn’t qualify for today’s state cross country meet, but his season hasn’t ended.
The senior distance runner’s 16:13 time in regionals earned him an all-expenses paid trip to the Kinney Regional meet in Oregon in December.
Travel for the fastest 15 Spokane-area boys and girls to Kinney is paid by Lilac Bloomsday Association.
The association made the offer to recognize runner efforts when the Greater Spokane League had its state allotment reduced to five runners last year.
Unlike the other Kinney qualifiers, Larson missed state by five places when he finished 20th in regionals. But he had the 15th best time overall among area boys.
Larson joins CV classmate Jenni Saling, EV’s Chris Henderson, Angie Simmers and Ann Marie Adams, WV’s Clayton Holmes, Jessica Riehle and Heather Harmon and University’s Lindsay Daehlin, Shanna Delong and Taraka Campbell as guests of Bloomsday.
