Swollen Knee Puts Lindros Temporarily Out Of Action
Philadelphia Flyers center Eric Lindros is expected to be sidelined at least a week with a slight ligament tear in his left knee, an injury that had been expected to keep him out only two games.
Lindros, who leads the Flyers in scoring, bruised his left kneecap Oct. 28 in a game at the New York Islanders when he slid into a goal post.
After a 2-1 home loss Thursday to Florida, the knee swelled up and forced Lindros to miss Saturday night’s 7-4 loss at Pittsburgh.
The injury is now described as a slight tear of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. No surgery is expected.
“It’s certainly not completely torn,” team doctor Arthur Bartolozzi said Sunday. Lindros will “likely not be back this week,” he said. “It’s best to leave a time frame out of this.”
“There’s a lot of swelling,” Lin dros said. “It’s going to take a lot of therapy and a lot of ice. Basically, they haven’t come up with a time frame.”
