Consolidated Electronics Absorbs Marine Monitoring
A small Spokane company has taken on its second merger this year.
Consolidated Electronics Inc. announced Wednesday that it will absorb Marine Monitoring Systems, a fledgling Idaho-based company that, like Consolidated, is in the business of developing preventive-maintenance monitoring equipment.
Earlier this year, Consolidated merged with Adept Engineering Corp., another small Spokane electronics company.
Consolidated, located in the Spokane Industrial Park, designs, develops and manufactures electronic equipment. Its principal product is a gas-density-monitoring system used primarily by electric utilities.
Marine Monitoring, which has yet to sell any of its devices, is developing a system to monitor the operating temperature of the drives of both outboard and inboard motors on boats.
“This acquisition will greatly expand our opportunities in providing high-tech solutions in the preventive maintenance field,” said Wendell Satre, president of Consolidated.
Marine Monitoring, located in Athol, Idaho, has three employees; Consolidated has about 30 employees.
The merger will be accomplished through an exchange of stock, with Consolidated the surviving corporation.
“This is an attempt to expand our product line and to increase our market exposure,” Satre said. “Because their product is so closely related to ours, we felt it was appropriate to take it on.”
Both Consolidated and Adept Engineering were subsidiaries of Plentech Electronics Inc., a Vancouver, British Columbia, company. In a merger that took place in April, Consolidated acquired all of Adept’s assets and liabilities.
