Late Surge Gives Victory To Minnihan

From Staff And Wire Reports

Early election results in one Central Valley School Board race were overturned as more votes were counted late Tuesday and early Wednesday.

After initially leading Patty Minnihan, George Springer lost his bid for the school board.

When she saw the early returns, Minnihan, a former teacher who has been active on district committees, thought, “Boy, I should have done more campaigning.”

On Wednesday, a relieved and happy Minnihan said she’s honored to have been elected and is ready to start working.

During his campaign, Springer severely criticized the district for getting away from the basics in education.
