Gerards For Jewelry Quitting Business

From Staff And Wire Reports

The owners of Gerards For Jewelry, a River Park Square retailer for 15 years, said they will close on Christmas Day, citing lack of customer traffic and personal reasons.

The jeweler is located in a highly visible 1,100-square-foot shop across from Nordstrom’s entrance to the River Park Square shopping center.

But co-owner Jan Gerards said the number of shoppers has declined in recent years and there is uncertainty about the future of the downtown Bon Marche and Nordstrom.

Gerards and sister, Mary Kay, opened the store in 1980. Their father, Henry Gerards, also has an interest in the business.
