King Mistrial Denied

Compiled From Wire Services

After asking for a mistrial, the defense attorney in the federal wire fraud trial of boxing promoter Don King attacked the credibility of key prosecution witnesses and charged that the case against King was “stitched together” with suspicions.

Fleming asked for the mistrial after the prosecution called King a liar, claiming that prior appeals-court rulings established that a mistrial is warranted when prosecutors call a witness a liar.

The request for a mistrial was denied.

The government is expected to conclude its rebuttal Monday.
