Mother Charged With Three Deaths

Associated Press

A woman has been charged with suffocating her two sons more than 20 years ago and killing her 2-year-old grandson in the same way last spring.

Elizabeth Shanklin, 48, was arrested Thursday on three counts of murder following a grand jury’s indictment.

Police say Shanklin suffocated Gregory Debish Jr. on May 10 while he was staying at her home. Her daughter, who is the boy’s mother, is in jail for arson.

During the investigation into Gregory’s death, residents told police about the suspicious deaths of Shanklin’s infant sons in 1974.
