Alonzo ‘Lonnie’ Haas Billings, Mont.

Memorial service for Alonzo “Lonnie” Haas, 93, was Friday at Smith West Chapel in Billings.

Mr. Haas, a former Spokane resident, died Monday.

He was born in Wilbur, Wash., and had lived in Spokane for 41 years before moving to Billings in 1986.

He married Florence Swart in 1929.

He had worked as a long line driver, driving a line of 20 horses; and also as a farmer, cowboy, musician, truck driver, an auctioneer, trader, and retired from Hygrade Food Products as a cattle buyer.

After retirement, he worked at the Spokane Livestock yards, crafted western articles and was a cowboy poet.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kathleen Siemsen of Billings and LaVonne Bennett of Boise; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lester Anderson Spokane

Visitation for Lester W. Anderson, 80, is planned from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Anderson, who died Wednesday, was born in Merrill, Wis.

He had lived in Spokane for 58 years and worked as a foreman for Spokane Metals Co. from 1939 to 1980.

His wife, June, died in 1984.

Survivors include one son, Gerald Anderson of Spokane; three daughters, Jeanie Mitchell and Verna Johnson, both of Spokane, and Janice Curtis of Waverly, Wash.; one sister, Virginia Touchette of Tacoma; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Vincent Pilgrim Spokane

Vigil service for Vincent G. Pilgrim, 79, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Pilgrim, who was born in Poplar, Mont., died Wednesday.

He graduated from Poplar High School and moved to Spokane.

He served with the National Guard, and retired as a machinist from Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood.

Mr. Pilgrim was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and golfed with the Liberty Lake “Over the Hill Gang.”

He is survived by his wife, Marie Pilgrim; one son, Roger Pilgrim of Spokane; four daughters, Barbara McCormack of Puyallup, Wash., Roxanne Burke and Marianne Kennedy, both of Spokane, and Darlene Port of Kodiak, Alaska; one sister, Maxine Fawver of Spokane; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
