Louise Hemmerling Spokane

Louise (Weishaar) Hemmerling, Spokane, is 100 years old today. Born Nov. 14, 1895, in Bessarabia, Russia, she came to America when she was 5 years old and lived in Quincy, Wash., for 13 years.

She married Emanuel Hemmerling in 1913. He died in 1973.

Mrs. Hemmerling and her husband were wheat ranchers in the Odessa, Wash., area.

Mrs. Hemmerling has four children: Ivan Hemmerling and Clarence Hemmerling, both of Odessa; and Bob Hemmerling and Viola Lightbody, both of Spokane.

She also has 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

When asked to what she attributes her longevity, she replied, “a good farm life.”
