Prayers Of Thanks

I am especially grateful for the gift of life, for the love of my family, friends and neighbors and all the wonderful folks I meet on my way; for all those who strive to make our world a better and safer place to live. For this and so much more, I give my thanks. May our hearts be filled with renewed faith and hope on this special day. God bless you all. Happy Thanksgiving.

For my beloved Mother Johanna - dearest departed - and my wonderful Father, Marv Scott, I am infinitely thankful.

You gave us a world freed from unthinkable tyranny. You kept your eyes on the goal and persevered.

You live by a standard of ethics, which you have never betrayed.

I am thankful that you meant it when you said, “till death do us part.” And that just as you promised, so have you lived.

I pray that each generation reaches to meet the worthy standards you set.

… And I am thankful for Baseball and pray the Mariners win the pennant in ‘96.

Your fragile little life began 9 months ago. Today we get to see your face and touch your tiny toes. We recognize that elbow that pushed out from inside. We get to see that twinkle we knew was in your eyes.

The heavens, they are dancing - and we know the reason why. You’re giving glory to your God in your first newborn cry. No one has ever seen God, we know now that’s not true, for his love has reached perfection. He is alive in you.

Patrick can teach you kindness; Katie, how to dream; Sara, sweet independence. You’re on a loving team.

We know you’ll grow up too fast and sometimes cause us strife, but today let us savor the miracle of life.

Back then, 10 cents would work in a pay phone. Ten pennies would not … thus my dilemma. Two teens, bless them, stopped at the sight of my stalled vehicle. “Can we help?” they inquired as I slowly cracked my window. “I could use some phone change.” The dark hour of midnight can be tense for a single lady caught on the shoulder of a freeway. Two idealistic, innocent, throw-caution-to-the-wind teen angels. If they had only known the immeasurable comfort they brought me that night.

This Thanksgiving Day, I remember such dear ones and smile. Thank you Lord.

Laureen Chitty enriched my life so much. I truly admired her. Although she battled daily with diabetes and blindness, she had undying faith, tremendous perseverance, never complained, and always had genuine concern and love for other people.

She only asked for one thing: Prayer. Though often in pain, she knew the Lord wouldn’t give her more than she could handle. Now she is with him and free from all suffering.

Laureen had a profound and lasting effect on my life and others. I have truly been blessed and am deeply grateful to have had her as a friend.
