Moldovan Policemen Killed For Guns

Compiled From Wire Services

The Interior Ministry sealed all entrances to the Moldovan capital after two policemen were murdered while guarding the country’s main visa office, a news agency reported Thursday.

Ion Mutu and Sergei Butucel were shot dead Wednesday night while guarding the Department of Visas and Permits. Another policeman, Valentin Dragomir, was shot in the stomach when he rushed to help his colleagues.

The guns of the two dead policemen were stolen and police suspect this was the motive for the attack.

Interior Ministry troops sealed off the entrances to Kishinev and all cars in the city were being searched, the Interfax news agency reported.
