Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

According to the British press, Princess Diana is a walking wound who seeks solace in the arms of available men. According to Diana, the British press is scum.

Whichever side you take, it should be noted that the man most recently linked with the royal personage - rugby star Will Carling, 29 - is separating from his wife Juila, 30.

“It hurts me very much to face losing my husband in a manner which has become outside my control,” Julia Carling said Friday.

Diana, however, was accepting no responsibility for the breakup.

“This is not down to me, it is down to him,” Today newspaper quoted Diana as saying. “It is not my problem, it is very much their problem. I am not going to take responsibility for any of this.”

Jennifer Beals on a date she had at age 14 with Matt Dillon (on “Late Night With David Letterman”): “He met my mother and then we went to the ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ but we had a lot of cheap red wine first. He threw up all over my velvet cape.”

Lindsey Buckingham turns 48 today.

Princess Diana, invited to a recent luncheon of The Literary Review by its editor Auberon (Bron) Waugh, took some humorous shots at the press. “Apparently, some people are wondering what Diana, that notorious illiterate, is doing at a distinguished scholarly occasion such as this,” she said. “So I’ve made time between therapy sessions and secret trysts to attempt to reply.” And she commenced to read a limerick: “The princess was heard to declare,/ Let gossips poke fun if they dare./ My real inspiration/ is Bron’s invitation,/ Stick that in your tabloids, so there.”

Some people just seem made for each other

It’s with sadness that we report the demise of the marriage between Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh. The couple announced the breakup on Sunday. “It is with great sadness that we have decided to separate,” the English stars said. “Our work has inevitably led to our spending long periods of time away from each other and, as a result, we have drifted apart.”

And then others just seem to be in it for the moment

In a somewhat related story, “Beverly Hills, 90210” stars Brian Austin Green, 22, and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, 21, are splitting after two years. “This isn’t the end of anybody’s lives,” Green’s father-manager told People magazine. “They’re young people. It’s a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship that still could be.”

We were Granted the winning answer: ‘Nine Months’

If you keep up with pop culture, you might have an easy time with the 1996 British version of the board game Trivial Pursuit. Here is one question: “Which film publicity launch was in its gestation stage when Hugh hooked a hooker?”
