Travis Has ‘Almost Perfect’ Timing
America, meet Nancy Travis.
OK, you might already know her from “Three Men and a Baby” and its sequel, “Three Men and a Little Lady.” Or, you could’ve seen her in “So I Married an Axe Murderer,” “Chaplin,” “Air America” or, perhaps, “Fluke.” Maybe you even caught her on Broadway in “I’m Not Rappaport.”
But with her new CBS series, “Almost Perfect,” Travis has stepped squarely center stage, the spotlight shining brightly on her shoulders. She’s the headliner - the star. And, she’s clearly ready for her closeup.
Although it’s been only a few weeks since her sitcom launched, Travis has felt the effect of the exposure.
“We’ve had three episodes air, and it’s different for me walking around the streets,” she says. “It used to be, ‘Hey you look familiar, where do I know you from?’ … But now, people come up to me and say, ‘Nancy Travis, hi. Good luck with your show.”’
In “Almost Perfect,” airing Sunday night at 8:30 (on Spokane’s KREM-Channel 2), Travis plays Kim Cooper, a newly promoted executive producer of a TV cop show who, now that she’s hit a career high, has put her personal life back on the front burner in hopes of turning up the heat.
Travis has no qualms about taking the TV role. “I have a part I’ve been dying to play my whole career. I get to play this woman who’s ambitious and headstrong, and has a sense of humor.”
