The Western Washington University football team moved up to No. 2 in this week’s NAIA Division II national poll following its road victory over then-No. 1 ranked Linfield.

The Vikings, 4-0, are off to their best start since 1961 and have achieved the school’s highest rating in any sport.

Pacific Lutheran University, which will play host to Whitworth Saturday, dropped from the ninth spot to No. 19.

Colorado quarterback Koy Detmer underwent successful anterior cruciate ligament surgery in Boulder, Colo., and will begin rehabilitating his right knee today.

In Raleigh, N.C., four North Carolina State football players pleaded guilty to misdemeanor trespassing charges after breaking down the front door of a Wolfpack basketball player’s apartment.

Duan Everett, James Walker, Mike Harrison and Ricky Bell accepted plea agreements in a Wake County courtroom in a Wake County courtroom for their roles in an August incident that apparently started in a dispute over the girlfriend of one of the football players.
