Fire Damages Spokane Home
Fire heavily damaged a Spokane home and killed a family cat Monday night.
No one was home when the fire was reported about 10 p.m. at 201 N. Lee, said Joe Stapleton, a Spokane Fire Department battalion chief.
The owner, Rick Greenough, and his girlfriend had left home hours earlier with a wood stove operating in the family room and bedroom area of the house.
Fire investigators weren’t certain whether the stove started the fire, Stapleton said.
Firefighters knocked down the fire and kept it from spreading to a travel trailer in the back yard, Stapleton said.
The fire heavily damaged part of the house and caused smoke damage in other areas, he said. The Red Cross provided shelter for Greenough.
