Weber Adds To Program

In a move toward gender equity, Weber State University announced that women’s soccer will be added to its list of varsity sports beginning in the fall of 1996.

The move had been anticipated for two years after an investigation by the U.S. Office of Civil Rights determined the university did not provide equal opportunities and scholarships for female athletes.

“We were mandated by Title IX to add another women’s sport, working toward an equality of scholarships offered by our department,” WSU Athletic Director Dutch Belnap said.
