You’ll Never Catch Diane Seeking Out A Frog To Kiss

Method acting was never one of Woody Allen’s directorial strengths. What you see is usually what you get.

Take Diane Keaton, for example. Her perpetual role was as the neurotic loner, which may be the truth in real life. The difference is that she isn’t complaining about it.

“When you’re feeling depressed or insecure, of course you say, ‘Yeah, I should get married,”’ Keaton told Vanity Fair magazine. “But when I was growing up, nobody said to me, ‘My God, you must get married, dear!’ My mother never did that. She also did not say, ‘Have kids.’ No, she did not! No! No! No!”

Keaton, whose past loves include Allen and Warren Beatty, admits, “I feel lonely sometimes, naturally. Everybody does. But I don’t consider my life lonely. I did not buy the fantasy of Prince Charming.”

Loose talk

Shannen Doherty on her acting abilities (in the Orange County Register): “Even when those people were saying all those horrible things about me, they always said I was a very talented actress. I have always been confident about my ability.”

And his favorite replacement remains David Letterman

Johnny Carson turns 70 tonight.

‘Mr. Eastwood? This is NBC news and we…’

So who’s gonna believe the Enquirer? Clint Eastwood says the Lantana, Fla.-based supermarket tab lied when it claimed to run what it advertised as an “exclusive” interview with the Hollywood actor-director. A jury agreed and awarded him a $150,000 judgment. Lawyers for the Enquirer, which insists the interview happened, vow to appeal.

Now, THAT explains the $250 whipped cream bill

During O.J. Simpson’s recent stay in Panama City, Fla., the controversial celebrity stayed not with girlfriend Paula Barbieri in her nearby home but at a $190-a-night hotel where she frequently visited. According to a hotel chef, the couple “ordered a lot of room service.”

What’s next? ‘Armchair aerobics with Brian Wilson’?

The latest celeb to produce her own fitness video is perhaps the one we would least expect one from. And, no, we’re not talking about Roseanne. But close. Talk-show host Carnie Wilson has a video that she calls “Great Changes With Carnie Wilson & Idrea” - Idrea being, of course, her personal trainer.

We’re holding out for one of those cute Kato Kaelin wigs

The fastest-selling Halloween masks, says USA Today, are the O.J. Simpson, Judge Lance Ito and Marcia Clark masks. The plastic O.J. masks were going for $30 apiece in St. Petersburg, Fla.

And, face it, there’s no future in syndication

Finally, this comment by Ray Richmond of the Los Angeles Daily News: “According to Advertising Age, the hottest star of the current television season is O.J. Simpson. And in a huge blow to several cable networks and tabloid programs, his show just got canceled.”
