Dollar Gets Mixed Results

Continued chatter from Germany’s central banker confused foreign exchange investors on Wednesday, sending the dollar to a mixed finish against leading currencies.

The dollar got caught in the middle of traders who were buying marks and selling yen. The result was a weaker dollar against the mark and a stronger greenback against the Japanese currency.

In late New York trading, the dollar ended at 1.3913 marks, down from 1.3940 late Tuesday. It rose to 101.13 yen, up from 100.45 yen.
