Lewiston Can’t Catch Cheney

Chad Randall ran in two touchdowns in the first quarter and the Cheney Blackhawks (8-0) held on late to beat the visiting Lewiston Bengals (7-2) 14-13 in a non-league game.

Lewiston got a touchdown from Chris Kennedy in the first quarter and scored again in the fourth quarter only to come up short on a two-point conversion to win the game. The Bengals will travel to Mountain Home, which defeated Caldwell 26-16, in the first round of the A-1 Division II playoffs.

Grangeville beat Wallace in an A-3 game in Moscow to decide who earned a position in the A-3 playoffs next week.

The loss sent the Miners to 3-5-1. The win moved Grangeville to 7-3. No other details reported.

Falls Christian 36, Kootenai 12

Falls Christian hosted the Kootenai Warriors in an afternoon North Star League game and came away with a win behind two rushing touchdowns from Ben Berg.

The regular-season finale for both teams moved Falls Christian to 5-4 and dropped Kootenai to 0-9.
