Lois Bening Elected As Sweet Adeline Of The Year

Lois Bening was recently elected Sweet Adeline of the Year by the Coeur d’Alene Chorus, Sweet Adelines International.

Bening was also installed as the group’s new president.

Other officers are Jeanne Wilhelm, vice president; Jean Rohlman, treasurer; Vickie Parker-Clark, recording secretary; Bettye Bracamonte, corresponding secretary; and Jennie Brown, Laura Lambert and Atsuko Schlesinger as directors.

Three Lakeland Junior High School students were chosen as Students of the Month for September. They are:

Megan Thompson, seventh grader and daughter of Karl and Jean Thompson, Hayden Lake; eighth grader Sarah Kellard, daughter of Michael and Debra Kellard, Hauser Lake; and ninth grader Levi Cushman, son of Bruce and Patti Cushman of Rathdrum.

Rodney D. Peterson, owner and operator of Rod’s Conoco Service in Rathdrum, has been listed as an Honored Professional of the National Directory of Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals. He also received a plaque.

Manda Hicks, Clark Fork, recently led the Carroll College forensics team with two first-place victories in after-dinner speaking and program oral interpretation at an Air Force Academy forensics tournament in Colorado Springs.

Hicks is a junior at Carroll College. The forensics team won the first-place sweepstakes, competing against 24 other schools from 13 states.

The following people were recognized by their peers for outstanding work at the Idaho Juvenile Justice Association/Idaho Corrections Association meeting:

Carolyn Peterson was named Administrator of the Year. Peterson has been with the Kootenai County Juvenile Diversion Program since 1982. She is active on several local committees and task forces as well as administering the diversion program.

David Martinez received the Lineworker of the Year Award.
