Mike Richter returned to top form at Madison Square Garden, backstopping the New York Rangers’ 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night.

Richter, who struggled earlier this season at home while losing two of three games, made 34 saves.

Anaheim racked up five goals in the first period to set a franchise record and went on to overwhelm winless Calgary.

Paul Kariya, Peter Douris and Shaun Van Allen each scored twice as the Ducks broke out of a slump against one of the NHL’s worst teams. They had lost six of their last seven games, but didn’t waste any time pummeling the Flames.
