Women Tee It Up In Several Tourneys
Women’s golf takes center stage in September with several tournaments scheduled.
The annual Spokane Area Women’s Golf Association 54-hole tournament opens Sept. 12 at The Creek at Qualchan Golf Course, with play continuing at Sun Dance Golf Course and Esmeralda Golf Course the following two days.
Eileen Hargrove, the 1995 champion from Indian Canyon Municipal Golf Course, is expected to defend her title against the likes of previous champs Suzi Stone and Karen McClandress Hollon.

In LPGA action, meanwhile, Tracy Hanson of Rathdrum, Idaho, will make her closest swing to the region at the Safeco Classic scheduled for Sept. 11-17 at the Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent.
The new Deer Park Golf Club is open Wednesday through Sunday. Pro Craig Schuh said the condition of the nine holes that are open is excellent. Tee times: 276-5912.
Manito Golf and Country Club will once again be the site of the Bulldog Club Scramble Golf Tournament. The Sept. 25 tournament funds Gonzaga University athletic scholarships.
