Lewis And Clark Joins Ferris On Top

GSL soccer

After Friday, every Greater Spokane League girls soccer team stood south of the South Side.

Ferris and Lewis and Clark have the early jump on the league after wins put them at 2-0-0-0.

Megan Cummings scored twice and added an assist as Ferris topped visiting Central Valley 3-1.

LC edged host Shadle Park 1-0 when one of the Highlanders’ defenders accidentally kicked the ball into her own goal.

Cummings scored at 9 and 66 minutes, and assisted on Mariah McConnaughay’s goal midway through the first half. Katie Carpenter had an unassisted goal for the Bears (1-0-0-1).

In its loss, Shadle (0-0-0-2) had a goal on a direct kick disallowed.

At University, Danni Thorn scored twice as potent Gonzaga Prep opened with a 4-0 win.

Marisa Jenkins added a goal and assist, and Lisa Bradley scored directly off a corner kick for the Bullpups. The Titans are 0-0-0-2.

At North Central, Amanda Chase, Kristen Walters and Meagen Michelbook scored in a shootout after the Indians (0-1-0-0) and Rogers (0-0-1-0) completed regular play in a scoreless tie.

Angie Vulcano had nine saves for the Pirates, who picked up a point and moved out of the cellar for the first time in history.
