Woman Reports Kidnapping, Rape
Sheriff’s deputies are searching for four men who kidnapped and raped a woman Monday night.
An 18-year-old woman reported she was waiting in her car at a stoplight at Sprague and Pines at around midnight Monday when another vehicle pulled up beside her. A man got out, pointed a gun at her and told her to unlock the door of her vehicle.
Once inside, the gunman forced her to follow the other vehicle to a location west of Coeur d’Alene. Four men then raped her and one of them hit her, she told deputies.
Sheriff’s Lt. David Wiyrick said the incident is still under investigation.
The victim said the suspects were driving a gray Nissan Sentra. All four were described as white and about 18 to 20 years old. All four reportedly had the sides of their heads shaved.
The first man had brown hair. He was wearing jean shorts, a white T-shirt, white socks and tennis shoes and had a silver hoop earring in his left ear.
The second also had a silver hoop earring in his left ear. He was wearing a black baseball cap.
The third had short blond hair and wore a navy blue sweatshirt and long jeans.
The fourth was wearing a white T-shirt with some type of print or logo; long, dark, button-fly jeans; and a purple and gray baseball hat.
Teens threatened with gun
A group of teenagers told deputies that a verbal exchange nearly turned deadly Sunday when someone pulled a gun on them.
The teenagers reported they were driving along East Sprague Avenue just after 11 p.m., when a maroon, newer-model Mustang convertible with a white top pulled alongside them. The three occupants of the Mustang then began to pick a fight.
The youths pulled into a parking lot at the corner of Sprague and University and the Mustang followed.
The parties got out and started taunting one another until a man who had been in the Mustang pulled out a handgun, pointing it at the head of one of the teenagers. No shots were fired, and both groups dispersed.
Sheriff’s reports describe the group in the Mustang as possibly Hispanic. The teens who reported the incident said someone called the man brandishing the weapon Shawn.
He also had a patch or bandage on his forehead over one eye. The teens also said the Mustang may have had a temporary license in the back window.
Burglary suspects nabbed
Three teenagers were arrested Tuesday in connection with series of vehicle break-ins.
Sheriff’s Deputy Brett Pierson was summoned to an apartment complex at the 3200 block of South University Road just before 2 a.m. by a woman who said three men tried to break into her parked vehicle. Other cars in the neighborhood were burglarized earlier Tuesday morning.
Shortly after arriving, Pierson spotted the suspects running away. Pierson chased and caught one of the men, wrestling him to the ground and handcuffing him.
While walking the first suspect back to his car, the deputy spotted a second suspect hiding in some bushes. Pierson then arrested that subject as well.
Peirson thought the third suspect had escaped, until 15 minutes later when a resident of the 10800 block of East 33rd reported someone was in his back yard. Deputies checked the yard and found the third suspect hiding in a stairwell.
Hai Trung Mai, 18; Muli Van Nguyn, 18; and a 17-year-old juvenile were arrested and charged with second degree felony theft.
