17,000 Visited Arena Open House

More than 17,000 people toured the new Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena during its debut open house Sunday.

Final attendance for the nine-hour open house was made public by the Public Facilities District, which manages the new building.

The total number of people coming through turnstyles topped out at 17,022 - or 31 people a minute, according to arena manager Kevin Twohig.

“What a fantastic turnout by the Spokane community,” he said.
