Nba Owners Ready To Vote

Associated Press

The final step in ending the NBA lockout - approval by the club owners of a new six-year contract - could come as early as today.

NBA deputy commissioner Russ Granik is hopeful that the owners will vote in a telephone conference call.

If the owners finalize the contract - and that is expected to be a formality - it would assure training camps opening as scheduled on Oct. 6 and the season starting Nov. 3.
