Planes Bump While Taxiing In Chicago
A jetliner taxiing to the runway for takeoff bumped another plane Thursday on the ground at O’Hare International Airport. No one was injured, authorities said.
A wing from a Lufthansa German airlines plane brushed the tail of United Airlines’ Flight 728 to London, which was boarding at the next gate, said United spokesman Joe Hopkins.
Damage to United’s Boeing 767-300 wasn’t immediately known, but the plane will need repairs and the airline was trying to find alternate transportation to England for the 200 passengers who were supposed to be on the flight, Hopkins said.
The Boeing 747-200 used for Lufthansa Flight 431 to Frankfurt, Germany, also was pulled from service and the passengers were being rerouted, a spokesman said.
