Soccer Leaders Cool

FIFA, international soccer’s governing body, gave a cool reception to a new players union organized by Diego Maradona.

“It’s impossible to have a reaction, because we don’t have any documents about the new union,” said FIFA spokesman Keith Cooper. “The only thing we know is what we read in the newspapers.”

Maradona announced the establishment of a new union to promote and safeguard players’ rights after meeting Monday.
