Grease Fire Clears Restaurant

From Staff And Wire Reports

A grease fire at the Longhorn Barbecue restaurant chased out workers and customers Thursday afternoon.

The fire broke out at the popular eatery just south of Sandpoint at about 1:35 p.m. It started in a range hood in the kitchen and flames spread to the attic of the building.

Employees used fire extinguishers on the flames until the Sagle Fire Department arrived. Chief Don Vuletic said the small blaze was under control in about 15 minutes.

There was little smoke or water damage to the building, but Vuletic said the restaurant likely will be closed for two or three days for cleanup and repairs. A damage estimate was unavailable.
